Countless times when talking to others, our conversations suddenly turned to anxiety and frustration, sometimes even helpless to see the challenges of our society has even become bigger and more complicated than expected. Anxiety and helplessness are understandable, as I have before experienced that difficult and depressing time, until I found a way, a role for myself in the whole social picture that I am a part of.

When we are young or even no longer young, our hope for a strong community and a harmony society always a beautiful thing, it becomes our motivation to continue whatever paths we choose. And yet, it is a long journey and never easy, or only the victory. Like a car running on no clear sight road, without maintenance and fuel, that car is likely to stop in the middle of the road, eventually give up. So how we can maintain “that car” and refill the fuel? Speaking from my own experience, we need our “personal impact feedback loop”. What is personal impact feedback loop? Put it in short, they are feedback come from the individuals around ourselves who have been experienced positive changes because of what we are doing, be it a family member, a friend, a brother, a sister or a colleague.

Oftentimes, impacts are difficult to be measured, especially for the work that take time to bear fruit, and great enemy of excitement, good intentions is the feeling of hopelessness from our own work, if we do not find this positive echo around us, it will be a tiring and unsustainable journey, like that car runs without knowing how to refill its own fuel. As a consequence, we will have to give up, even worse, try to forget our own dreams.

Creating that personal impact feedback loop will allow us receive the realtime feedback from the people whom we can talk to everyday, from small things we do and have done, only then it provides us the motivation to continue our long yet worthy journey. In the end, no matter how big our dreams are, to sustain it, they need to be built on small yet we-still-can-feel-it results.
